Default Suggestions to reduce screen clutter

These are some suggestions I have to help reduce the amount of screen ‘clutter’. There is enough going on in the average game. I would really prefer to reduce the amount of unnecessary stuff.

1. Option to disable the NPC ‘talking head’ dialog. I really don’t care to see the comments from one NPC to another in the form of a dialog that appears in the middle of my screen that I have to X to close. This is especially frustrating during combat and also unnecessary considering the comments they make are echoed as chat messages. I realize this is to relay ‘vital’ story information to the player thus I ask for an option to disable it.

2. Option to disable the henchmen 'random' comments. On very rare occasions these are sometimes comical but overall they just add clutter to the screen.

3. Option to disable drop messages for players other than myself. While its nice to see what others get, typically the screen gets so crammed with 'Charr drops a Raven staff for player Yze Asz' type messages other chat messages can get lost in the mess. Besides you also get a 'Player X picked up Raven staff' so if you want to know what they get..there it is. Additionally it would be nice to have the option to suppress player pickup announcements.

4. Option to select the color of messages related to for your player. It would be nice if I could pick, say red, as the text color for all messages related to my character. So when it says 'Charr drops a Glob of Ectoplasm for Yze Asz' it would stand out in the endless stream of chat messages (drops, pickups etc). The recent addition of having the color change for purple, green and gold items was nice. But I think this would be better.

5. Within the radar window, make NPCs a color besides green. I realize an NPC is technically an ally but especially in Factions, you come across mobs of peasants etc that serve no purpose and it just adds to confusion when trying to see where the people in my party are. It would be nice if NPCs were, say yellow, so I could easily tell who is a peasant and who is a player from my party wandering the wrong way etc. And actually, it would be nice if merchants had one color, collectors another, NPCs one etc. I would really love to be able to look at the radar and know what is what other than Red: it will try to kill me and Green: It wont.

If any or all of the above has been repeated in other threads I apologize.

You *can* turn this off. Options -> Customize Interface. There's supposed to be an NPC dialog (two of them, actually) you can uncheck. I have them turned off because they were getting annoying, but I can't see the option to turn them back on now. However, not everything *is* echoed in the chat, which is kinda frustrating because sometimes their dialog bubbles go away faster than you can read them.

The option to turn off the NPC pop-up dialogues only appears when you enter an area where that sort of chat goes on... but it is there in the options.

1) First of all, Across, it IS a big deal. For example, some skills such as Taste of Death -require- that you be able to click on a certain person, since there is not hotkey for Target Closest Animated Undead. Hard to do when Togo is whining in the foreground.

That said...

OPTIONS FTW.
By the way,. you can also click the Edit Interface button and move where the dialogue boxes pop up...

READ THIS:
THE DIALOGUE OPTIONS DO NOT APPEAR UNLESS THEY ARE BEING USED!

I had to go into the Tahnnakai Temple mission to screenshot this... and not only that, but simply starting the mission was not enough. I had to move forward so that both Mhenlo and Togo could talk. If only one dialogue is being used--for example, when Togo alone speaks in the Shing Jea missions--then you will only be able to manipulate the Dialogue 1 option, and not Dialogue 2.

Why is this? No one but the ANet devs know. Hm.
